What belongs on a US invoice (and optional sales tax)

US invoices usually show legal or DBA name, address, unique invoice number, date, due terms (Net 15 / Net 30), client billing details, and itemized labour or materials. Most layouts here start tax-free — add a Sales Tax or Local Tax line only when your nexus and product rules require collection.

/us is USD + optional state tax. Note ship-to or service state when it helps AP understand the charge.

ACH and Zelle for domestic remittance matching

PayPal or Stripe links help when the client prefers cards — add one clear payment line so it prints. Keep USD unless the contract says otherwise. Due dates in US style (for example March 31, 2026).

Quote under /us → invoice after acceptance

Many US projects start with a quote under /us (USD defaults), then invoice after acceptance or delivery. Keep QT- and INV- prefixes separate so books stay audit-friendly.

If sales tax applies only on the final bill, leave the quote tax-free and add the tax line after you confirm nexus and rate.
