ACH, Zelle, and how US clients usually pay
Domestic US clients often pay by ACH bank transfer, Zelle, check, or card. Put routing and account details (or a short ACH instruction) in bank details / Notes, and ask them to include the invoice number on the remittance. PayPal or Stripe payment links help when the client prefers cards — add the link as a payment line so it prints on the PDF.
For multi-state work, keep USD unless the contract says otherwise, and write the service or ship-to state clearly. That note helps AP teams and your own sales-tax review later; this tool still does not decide whether you owe tax in that state.
Freelancers, W-9 contractors, and small LLCs
Independent contractors billing under a Schedule C or single-member LLC typically need a clean USD PDF with legal/DBA name, address, and EIN or SSN only when the client already collected a W-9 offline — you do not have to print SSN on every invoice. Agencies and productized consultancies often use milestone invoices (deposit + final) with the same line-item style.
